About the Collective
The NEXT Collective is a professional network for Utah composers over 21, dedicated to artistic growth and collaboration. Affiliated with NEXT Ensemble, we partner with NEXT and other performing arts organizations to strengthen the contemporary music community in Utah and beyond.
Our regular meetings focus on:
Providing comprehensive peer feedback on musical compositions
Developing performance opportunities for composers
Creating events beyond traditional ensemble concerts
Sharing advanced compositional expertise
Building meaningful professional connections
Through strategic engagement, the NEXT Collective supports and advances contemporary musical composition in the region.
Membership Benefits
NEXT Collective composers enjoy exclusive opportunities to create music for NEXT Ensemble concerts. Selected composers receive:
Commissioned compensation for their musical work
Options to conduct their piece and participate in rehearsals
Professional recording of their composition
Direct networking and collaboration with professional musicians
A voice in shaping NEXT Ensemble programming and NEXT Collective outreach projects
While occasional public calls for scores may occur, active NEXT Collective members receive priority consideration for compositional opportunities.
